Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department seeks to use artificial intelligence and machine learning technology to implement a comprehensive system for digitizing and automating the process of monitoring and comparing needed to print the Quran, Al-Khaleej reported.
According to the report, AI technology is capable of detecting the slightest differences between copies and the original print, ensuring that no errors or changes go undetected.
Ali Al-Marzouqi, director of a research department responsible for implementing the project, says the AI can review and examine the newly printed copies to make sure they are as accurate as of the original text.
The project aims to take advantage of modern technologies in the service of the Quran and to improve the process of checking and verifying the printed texts which have been previously done manually, consuming great resources and working hours.
The capabilities of AI Quran proofreading will reveal layout defects, page alignment, printing and ink defects, word errors such as missing letters, as well as revealing unusual or unnecessary added spaces.
